Quilts
by Anne
Anne Turner a local Fort Bragg quilter received a BFA degree from St Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana in 1978. Anne thought she would become the next great American painter. She started a family instead. Her second child bit through paint tubes on two different occasions, so she pursued gardening. Then he ate rose fertilizer so Anne investigated weaving. She was a weaver for about 5 years when her third child (also a boy) decided to help mommy and cut two different warps. She was pregnant with her 4th child when she took her first quilting class and has been quilting ever since. As of 2026, that is 34 years of bliss.
She has had a quilt featured in Quilt Magazine and also had quilts in the juried show “Out of the Comfort Zone.” She has given two quilts to the City of Otsuchi, one commemorating the first student exchange in which #2 son participated, and the second in 2012 when Anne and Dave traveled to Otsuchi for the 1 year ceremony in memory of those lost in the tsunami. She has exhibited in the Memorial Day Quilt Show since 1995.
She quilts in her studio behind her Fort Bragg Home. Her quilts are on display at her gallery at 234 E. Redwood Ave, where Dave owns the floor but Anne has the walls.
