Admiral McRaven, a Navy Seal, gave a new meaning to making your bed every morning. He states that, “If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another. And by the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.” Watch the video below to hear more on his philosophy: if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.
And then there is Making Your FloBed… creating your personalized natural latex mattress. But that’s a little off the Admiral’s message.

Goldilocks Was Right
When the time comes to make a purchase that you will be using every day, you might start to feel a little overwhelmed. Often times mattress shopping includes heading to a crowded mattress shop, wondering if you are getting the best deal, fending off the aggressive salesmen, and spending a few minutes testing out a mattress that you hope you will like spending 8 hrs on every night. That does not have to be your shopping experience. At FloBeds we like to make sure you don’t have to deal with crowds or haggling. You can have a great mattress shopping experience from the comfort of your own home. Let us help you design a latex mattress to fit both your body and your partner’s.
Even Newsweek thinks you should try a FloBed. As mentioned in the Newsweek article, “…find a mattress you can adjust to the point of perfection. Flobeds (flobeds.com or 1-800-FLOBEDS) sells stackable latex panels that range from soft to superfirm. Stack two panels of different firmnesses for a truly customized sleep. And because each side of the mattress has separate panels, your partner can sleep on marble while you float on marshmallows.” T.E. Newsweek

Down on the Farm
Owning a business is not an easy task, and it is not for everyone. Dave, the owner of FloBeds, has been in business for over 35 years. It all began one summer while he was attending Stanford in Palo Alto. In 1971 he entered the specialty sleep business in Palo Alto, California as a means to pay for college. After 4 years of political science and waterbeds, Dave opened a second retail store. Since then his business has changed and adapted multiple times. Watch the video below to hear how FloBeds evolved into the successful natural latex mattress shop it is today:
Spring has arrived! Although we have all heard of spring cleaning closets, have you ever heard of spring cleaning your sleep routine? Here are 3 ways you can spring clean to sleep better: 1. Remove all technology from your bed. The blue light from your phone can keep you from getting quality sleep, so find another place for it to spend the night. 2. Wash your comforter. Most people wash their sheets on a regular basis, but not their comforters. According to Sleep.org the, “National Sleep Foundation’s own Bedroom Poll found that nearly three out of four people say they get a more comfortable night’s sleep when their bedding has a fresh scent.” 3. Rid your room of the clutter. Having a clean room puts your mind at ease and will help you sleep better. So leave your phone in the other room, toss your comforter in the wash, pick up those socks that missed the dirty clothes hamper, and get ready to sleep better this spring.
Often times when people call FloBeds to learn more about our latex mattresses they ask, “What is your most popular bed?” Well the answer is the vZone.
The vZone Mattress
In addition to the top to bottom & side to side customization of our Select & Deluxe models, the vZone features head to toe adjustable zoning to provide pressure point relief for hips and shoulders as well as additional lumbar support. With the Natural or Original vZone, your latex mattress is customized and adjustable in every direction!

My wife and I have been customers of Flobeds since almost the beginning. We started with an individual control air bed and then migrated to the latex once that was available back in 2000. It was now time to replace a couple of the foam cores and we upgraded to the vZone! What a difference a day makes! My wife woke up after the first night with absolutely no back pain and each night keeps getting better! The products and people are just the best. I applaud them for their innovation and keeping a step ahead of all the other brands you hear on the radio and TV. Keep it up Flobeds!! Thanks Dave! Cheers, Greg

This Sunday daylight saving time (DST) begins. We will be changing our clocks to “spring” forward one hour. The purpose of DST is to make better use of natural sunlight. It’s actually a myth that the purpose of the time change was to benefit farmers. DST was enacted as a wartime conservation effort.
The camps are pretty divided when it comes to debating the effectiveness of DST. One side says it great because it encourages people to spend more time outside in the daylight, which saves energy. However, those against it argue that negative side effects of DST outweigh the energy saving. This camp argues that changing the clocks causes a loss of sleep, lost productivity, and accidents due to drowsy driving.
So do what it takes to be prepared for losing one hour of sleep this Sunday.
Tips to Get You Back on Track Quickly
~Make sure you are caught up on your sleep before the clocks change. ~Make sure the lights in your room are dim at night to signal to your body that it’s time for bed. ~Avoid evening activates such as drinking caffeine or alcohol too close to bedtime. ~Did someone mention the FloBed natural latex mattress?
