As most customers know our FloBeds covers are not machine washable. That is why we carry the very popular St. Dormeir Wool Mattress Protector. Even people who do not own our beds call our store in search of the popular St. Dormeir Protector.
This amazing new Wool has been specially milled by a new European process to make it completely machine washable (and dryable) without shrinking. Typical wool pads need to be dry cleaned, or at best hand washed. St.Dormeir protectors have all the convenience of polyester fills, but you can now sleep on natural wool with all its famous characteristics.
Breathability keeps you cool in the summer, and cozy in the winter, and it lasts years longer than polyester. Wool is even naturally flame retardant (Polyester burns easily because it is made from hydrocarbons – just like other plastics, gasoline, etc.).
St.Dormeir Protectors are made with 100% Cotton Terry covers, filled with New Zealand Wool. This Cotton Terry is also used as the skirt that goes all around the sides of the protector, to fit completely over your mattress. It has full elastic all around the bottom edge for the best fit. They are extremely moisture-absorbent, and they are also very soft to sleep on.
We are a family owned and operated business, which makes it easy for us to offer our customers the individual attention they deserve.
Dave Turner entered the sleep business in 1971. His children have always joked that they have been working for their father since they were able to put stamps on envelopes. Today the FloBeds shop is run by Dave Turner, his wife Anne, and oldest son Dewey. When you call to purchase your FloBed you will most likely be greeted by Dewey or his coworker Garrett.
Our team gets excited every time a new customer calls to learn about our FloBeds. We also love hearing from our existing customers, whether it’s to help adjust layers or to sell them another bed. Since we are a family owned business we are able to work quickly and efficiently as a team to keep our customers happy. The best part about buying a FloBed is you have a support system and a family that will be there for you over the next 20 years.
Here is a little thank you note we got from one of our customers Dr. Lago-
“As an orthopedic surgeon, I have seen many patients who have been adversely affected by an uncomfortable bed. The obliteration of pressure points has been a major result. Motion on either side of the bed goes un-noticed with FloBed. The old days when I awoke with a low backache are gone.”
FloBeds sponsors a local basketball team here in Fort Bragg. Our Manager of Operations, Dewey Turner, put together a FloBeds team that meant business. The team went 12-2 this season. It was a very competitive season but our FloBeds team prevailed! Congratulations to everyone on the team: Brandon Tupper, Patrick Turner, Tim Anderson, Myles Anderson, Josh Hartsock, Kevin Miller, Woody Heckeroth, Dewey Turner, Cody Odekirk, Ernie Rubio, and Jason Cimolino (not pictured).
Here are some additional photos of the team with their families-
Happy Earth Day! To celebrate Earth Day today NASA is asking that we share pictures of our favorite places using the hashtag #NoPlaceLikeHome. When you look up this hashtag you will also see photos that NASA will be posting as well. After Earth Day NASA will use some of the best pictures to compile a video.
Operations Manager Dewey Says his #NoPlaceLikeHome is anywhere with his family-
Admiral McRaven, a Navy Seal, gave a new meaning to making your bed every morning. He states that, “If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another. And by the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.” Watch the video below to hear more on his philosophy: if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.
When the time comes to make a purchase that you will be using every day, you might start to feel a little overwhelmed. Often times mattress shopping includes heading to a crowded mattress shop, wondering if you are getting the best deal, fending off the aggressive salesmen, and spending a few minutes testing out a mattress that you hope you will like spending 8 hrs on every night. That does not have to be your shopping experience. At FloBeds we like to make sure you don’t have to deal with crowds or haggling. You can have a great mattress shopping experience from the comfort of your own home.
Even Newsweek thinks you should try a FloBed. As mentioned in the Newsweek article, “…find a mattress you can adjust to the point of perfection. Flobeds (flobeds.com or 1-800-FLOBEDS) sells stackable latex panels that range from soft to superfirm. Stack two panels of different firmnesses for a truly customized sleep. And because each side of the mattress has separate panels, your partner can sleep on marble while you float on marshmallows.” T.E. Newsweek
Owning a business is not an easy task, and it is not for everyone. Dave, the owner of FloBeds, has been in business for over 35 years. It all began one summer while he was attending Stanford in Palo Alto. In 1971 he entered the specialty sleep business in Palo Alto, California as a means to pay for college. After 4 years of political science and waterbeds, Dave opened a second retail store. Since then his business has changed and adapted multiple times. Watch the video below to hear how FloBeds evolved into the successful natural latex mattress shop it is today:
This week our Friday feature is about a Victorian inn called the Atrium Bed and Breakfast located here in Fort Bragg, California. This vacation spot is located only a few blocks away from the FloBeds Sleep Shop. It is also located very close to rivers, state parks, redwoods, and the famous Glass Beach.
Make sure you request the Nest when you make your reservation. The Nest features our queen size FloBed and it is a, “…sunny, whimsical, bird-themed room.” (Atrium Website)
Here are some fun activity suggestions from Atrium, “Imagine sitting in our flower-filled atrium garden while sipping your choice of morning beverage and planning your day. Will it be sifting through mounds of beautiful sea glass at one of our glass beaches, a train ride through the redwoods, horseback riding on the beach, or walking through our downtown and museum?”(Atrium Website)
