In 2010 FloBeds made a record-setting dog bed of the same all-natural materials we use in our organic natural latex mattresses. That means it was not only the world’s biggest dog bed, but the most comfortable and most eco-friendly!

If you have called FloBeds you have probably spoken to Dewey Turner. Dewey started at FloBeds 12 years ago! His fondest memory is when he went to Utah in 2009 to get a new Edge Sweets Latex-Foam Horizontal Saw. That saw made it possible for FloBeds to control the quality and precision of the latex layers in every latex mattress.

  No matter how you are celebrating the 4th of July, we hope you have a great day!

We will be enjoying the World’s Largest Salmon BBQ up here in Fort Bragg again. “Join the fun at this annual event, sponsored by the Salmon Restoration Association to raise money to take positive action to restore salmon to our rivers and streams. Great food, live music and a love of the outdoors are all part of the atmosphere at the barbeque.”(Celebrate July 4th in Mendocino) Have a great weekend!

This past weekend Dave Turner sent his FloBeds team on a special trip to thank them for all of their hard work. Knowing how much his team loves baseball, Dave gave the guys tickets to a Giants game! They made the long drive down to San Francisco to catch a fun game at AT&T Park. Great seats, great team and a great day to be a FloBeds employee.

Insufficient sleep will slow down your metabolism. In addition, not getting enough sleep will cause excessive eating and weight gain. A lack of sleep will increase ghrelin (hunger hormone) levels and decreases levels of leptin (the hormone that signals fullness). “Research has showed that when study participants didn’t get enough sleep for five days, they consumed more carbohydrates and gained nearly 2 pounds in that time.” USA Today

So stop sabotaging your healthy diet and rigid workout routine. Make sure you get some sleep so you can reach your goals. Think about a latex mattress if your not comfortable in bed.

The FloBeds team takes first place.

FloBeds sponsors a local basketball team here in Fort Bragg. Our Manager of Operations, Dewey Turner, put together a FloBeds team that meant business. The team went 12-2 this season. It was a very competitive season but our FloBeds team prevailed! Congratulations to everyone on the team: Brandon Tupper, Patrick Turner, Tim Anderson, Myles Anderson, Josh Hartsock, Kevin Miller, Woody Heckeroth, Dewey Turner, Cody Odekirk, Ernie Rubio, and Jason Cimolino (not pictured).

Friday Feature: The Atrium Bed and Breakfast

This week our Friday feature is about a Victorian inn called the Atrium Bed and Breakfast located here in Fort Bragg, California. This vacation spot is located only a few blocks away from the FloBeds Sleep Shop. It is also located very close to rivers, state parks, redwoods, and the famous Glass Beach.

3 Bed Time Snacks

Do you ever go to bed feeling very sleepy but you still have a hard time getting the quality sleep you need? Well the journal Cell Reports has found that this may be due to your circadian clock being out of whack. Getting things back in sync could be as easy as picking the right bedtime snack. Researchers have found that eating the right carbohydrate-rich snack at night could help re-set you clock. Carbs increase insulin secretion which stimulates healthy circadian patterns. Listed below are three healthy options, but remember to stick to snack size portions!

  1. Almond Butter on Bread- a slice of whole-grain bread with a tablespoon of almond butter
  2. Cherries- these have approximately 24 grams of carbs per cup
  3. Whole-Grain Crackers- switch chips with a few 100% whole grain crackers

So next time you find yourself reaching for a midnight snack try one of our carb loaded suggestions above.
