Latex Allergies, Box Springs, and New Cores

I am shopping for a new mattress and had a few question… Ted

Q1: My first question is my wife has a “slight” sensitivity to latex. With the way your bed is constructed, you never really touch the latex while sleeping. Have you found this to be a problem with any of your customers?
Dewey Answers: We have had no allergic reactions to our Talalay Latex even with people who have severe latex allergies. Check out this link to learn more about it. Latex Allergies.

Q2: Is there an advantage using one of your foundations compared to using the box spring set I already have?
Dewey Answers: You can expect our foundations to last the life of our mattresses, and they not only last longer, they promote great air flow. Most box springs start to give way between 5 and 7 years. Since the life of our latex mattress is 20 plus years, we decided to move away from the industry norm of the box spring construction and started building foundations that would last as long as our mattresses.

Q3: Will my mattress be new made with new cores?
Dewey Answers: Any time you purchase a latex layer from us, it will be BRAND NEW.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I live in Geneseo, IL and was wondering where I can buy one of  your beds that is closer to where I live?

Dewey Answers:

Other than here in Fort Bragg on the Northern Coast of California, we sell all of our beds direct.  We offer a 90 night Test Rest money back guarantee so you can evaluate your FloBeds Mattress in the comfort and privacy of your home.  We feel this is better than trying one for 15 minutes in a showroom, where you really can’t know how your body will feel in the morning.
Goldilocks GuaranteeA few years ago we though about selling through dealers. But we quickly realized an ordinary mattress store can’t offer the level of customer service that you need to guarantee a good night’s sleep. Unlike FloBeds – who makes your mattress to your specifications – dealers don’t like giving money-back guarantees, aren’t prepared to carry the inventory needed to offer 13 different firmnesses, and don’t give the kind of service necessary to fine-tune firmnesses by offering different latex cores until your bed is just right.

So we decided the best thing for our customers is to sell through our web site, with as much phone time as you want before, during and after the sale.

By the way… if  you’re wondering about our trustworthiness, read about our 8th year of  zero complaints! We would have more, but BBB stopped sending out the letters!

(That means we will give your money back before we let you be unhappy:)

Dewey Builds a Bed

Ever wonder how they get that big bed in those little boxes? Or what happens once your bed arrives at your house?

Watch this – Dewey made a video that takes the mystery out of the process by showing how you build your bed, step-by-step. Cool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Hi,  We tried out the Royal Pedic quilt top pure latex mattress at ABC Carpet and Home store and liked it very much, except for the price. I’m wondering if you’re familiar enough with Royal Pedic’s products to recommend whether it’s possible to create a similar feeling product from your own lineup.

Here is a link to it (although the image is wrong as it’s not actually a pillowtop as shown).  The product tearsheet link along the bottom of the page shows the correct image along with some specs, but unfortunately not the ILD ratings

I’m not especially concerned about whether the materials qualify as all-organic. However I would be interested to know whether your all-natural latex actually feels any different than your blended talalay latex.

I’m also not concerned about whether the thickness is exactly the same, I’m more interested in knowing if we could put together a mattress that feels about the same as the Royal Pedic regardless of the physical differences.

Could you also point me to some pictures of the cotton/wool cover you use on your mattresses, and describe how much padding is in it?
Thanks,
Dan

A: Dan,  The Royal Pedic 7 zone would be most comparable to our vZone mattress.(blended latex version https://www.flobeds.com/products/6299EK ) (Natural Latex version https://www.flobeds.com/products/6499EK ) Most manufactures are producing some sort of zoned mattress these days to relieve pressure points for a sleepers shoulders and hips as well as offer additional lumbar support. In order to match the feel of the Royal Pedic exactly we would need the ild’s of the latex used, however we at FloBeds feel that a mattress should be custom built for each sleeper, while the Royal Pedic may have felt great in the store the chances of it being the perfect sleeping surface for each of you is slim. Based on your body weight,  height, sleeping style, we can recommend what we feel would be best for each of you, we then give you 100 nights to make sure the bed is for you.  Our Goldilocks Guranantee lets you fine tune your mattress for 20 years https://www.flobeds.com/guarantee/goldilocks-guarantee.htm.

As to our 100% natural Talalay vs The Blended Talalay (30% natural 70% synthetic) I tell folks; as far as look, touch, feel, performance, and warranty goes the two are the same. The Natural will run a little bit thicker and weigh more, but it really comes down to a personal preference.

Here is a link to our organic cotton and wool cover https://www.flobeds.com/information/natural-organic/covers.htm , we use 1inch of organic wool in the quilted top, as well as needle punched wool in the side walls and bottom of the cover for our flame barrier. Wool is naturally flame resistant, and a great addition to the organic cotton ticking in our mattress covers.

If you have any further questions about our mattresses, please feel free to give us a call, or email back.

Thanks,
Dewey Turner

Video: Sheep Liberation

Hello FloBed Bloggers, I have finally persuaded my father to get up to speed with the new “hip” and “cool” technology  (where the vast majority of his business is already done online). A big part of what I’ll be doing is helping get the viral marketing campaign on board. I’m lucky my father is allowing me to be my creative self. This video, however, was my fathers creation (although i want to take a little credit for moving the mountain;) which they made while i was still in D.C. with my NAIA/American Red Cross internship.

This Video is the first of our YouTube videos, involving everyone that was at work that day. It also involves another local business, Furniture Mart. And as you will see, we liberated their Serta Sheep from their show room window. Enjoy!
