It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another. Owning a business is not an easy task, and it is not for everyone. Dave, the owner of FloBeds, has been in business for over 35 years. It all began one summer while he was attending Stanford in Palo Alto. In 1971 he entered the specialty sleep business in Palo Alto, California as a means to pay for college. After 4 years of political science and waterbeds, Dave opened a second retail store. Since then his business has changed and adapted multiple times. Spring has arrived! Although we have all heard of spring cleaning closets, have you ever heard of spring cleaning your sleep routine? Here are 3 ways you can spring clean to sleep better:
1. Remove all technology from your bed. The blue light from your phone can keep you from getting quality sleep, so find another place for it to spend the night.
2. Wash your comforter. Most people wash their sheets on a regular basis, but not their comforters. According to Sleep.org the, “National Sleep Foundation’s own Bedroom Poll found that nearly three out of four people say they get a more comfortable night’s sleep when their bedding has a fresh scent.”
3. Rid your room of the clutter. Having a clean room puts your mind at ease and will help you sleep better.
So leave your phone in the other room, toss your comforter in the wash, pick up those socks that missed the dirty clothes hamper, and get ready to sleep better this spring.
According to sleep.org, “It doesn’t matter when you hit the gym, just that you get in your daily burn. People who work out regularly sleep better—and longer—than those who don’t.” For some, working out can sound daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Try grabbing a friend and taking a nice long walk along your favorite scenic route. Biking is another fun way to workout and its low impact. If you are someone who likes to work out but does not have time to do it regularly, make time. Even thirty minutes a day of a weight training circuit will be enough.
Working out at least 150 minutes a week has been found to increase quality of sleep by 65%. Not only will it help you sleep better at night but it will help you feel less sleepy during the day. The National Sleep Foundation found that,”Increasingly, the scientific evidence is encouraging as regular physical activity may serve as a non-pharmaceutical alternative to improve sleep.” So put down the sleeping pills, pick up you phone, call your friend, and go get your sleep inducing workout in!

This Sunday daylight saving time (DST) begins. We will be changing our clocks to “spring” forward one hour. The purpose of DST is to make better use of natural sunlight. It’s actually a myth that the purpose of the time change was to benefit farmers. DST was enacted as a wartime conservation effort.
The camps are pretty divided when it comes to debating the effectiveness of DST. One side says it great because it encourages people to spend more time outside in the daylight, which saves energy. However, those against it argue that negative side effects of DST outweigh the energy saving. This camp argues that changing the clocks causes a loss of sleep, lost productivity, and accidents due to drowsy driving.
So do what it takes to be prepared for losing one hour of sleep this Sunday.

Natural and Blended Latex Mattress Care Instructions
Our covers unzip, so you can easily hang your mattress top in the sun. We suggest sunning your mattress-top a couple of times a year. Sunning will kill dust mites. Latex and visco-elastic are both dust mite resistant. If you suffer from severe allergies, with the top off, you can vacuum the inside top of your mattress components to remove allergens. That, combined with your sunned mattress top will provide you with cleanest and most comfortable mattress possible. Your mattress cover may be spot washed with cold water and mild soap. It should be line dried. DO NOT MACHINE WASH AND DO NOT PUT IN DRYER.
